Hey

I’m Joop Lammerts, just a drummer boy who lives in Nijmegen (NL). Since you are here I might just tell you something about myself and my drum-history...

If I have to choose one subject that is always in my live I have to say it’s Music. As long I can remember I’m busy with rhythms and melodies. Not That I ever had any lessons, but it’s always in my head.

It took over 18 years before I ended up in a band. In 2004 I started playing at a school band called InJustice. With InJustice I played a couple of live shows. But things didn’t work out. After a some months InJustice turned into Metalinc.

With Metalinc I recorded two demo’s and did about ten live shows. I learned a lot about playing live, about my approach of drums and about playing in a band. Metalinc was a great time for me. And I enjoyed the 1,5 years of being in that band. But in 2006 we decided to split up. We had several disagreements about the direction of the band. I also felt I needed to grow as a drummer and with Metalinc I was at the end of the line.

In the year that followed I experimented with a lot of musicians and projects. During this time my drumming skills grew and also my approach of drums. I started learning to play with a metronome, this way I became more relaxed when I play. I began to understand that dynamics could be really cool on drums too. During this period I saw Casey Grillo of Kamelot on a live DVD and noticed how relaxed he was playing. I understand he is not the only one but for me he was a great example. I started using technique and worked on my independence of my arms and feet. This had the nice result of my playing style I have today.

While I was learning my "new" style of playing I ended up jamming / playing with Fon Sanders in August 2006. Fon and I had the same ideas about music and started working on some songs. Together we started Seiphian. Seiphian is the result of a year of writing songs and working on ideas. On the 6th of October we recorded our demo and we did several live shows.

Besides playing in Seiphian I'm still busy with projects and other bands. I really enjoy palying with other musicians and hope to play with a lot of them! So, if you ever need a drummer, don't hesitate and get in contact with me.
