My "Solitaire" drum kit is more like an easy rock set-up.
The drum kit is based upon the "left" kit of Mike Portnoy and upon the kit of Kenny Aronoff. I use a
10" & 13" rack toms, with the 10" tom on my right (I'll come back on
that), and a 16" floor tom. It's been build up on a TAMA PTS with
some road-pro cymbal
stands. I've chosen for my 14" x 6.5" diamond plate snare 'cause
I was looking for a strong and fat sounding back beat. The drums are
set pretty low, the cymbals are on medium height. The 13" tom tom is
tuned the same as my floor toms, so the bottom head is even tight than
the batter head.
I use two crashes on this set. my 18" Avedis crashes are set up
right in front of me.
I've chosen to use two set's of hihats on this set. The one on my
right is my main hihat and is mounted between the 10" tom tom and my
ride cymbal, just above the floor tom. That's why the 10"tom is
mounted on my right, this way I can roll from my hihat's to my toms.
